  • A brief intro into the history and tradition of drumming and nasheeds, the benefits of drumming and singing, how to hold the drum, what are the main strokes. and learn how to play your first rhythm​

  • Learn how to play he Yusuf Islam rhythms to one of the most well-known nasheeds; Tala al Badru Alayna​

  • Nyabingi/Baladi- Tala al Badru Alayna

  • Malfouf- Mawla Ya Salli

  • Recap of all rhythms and Exercises on singing and drumming at the same time.

  • Salla Alayk Allah

  • Ya noori

  • Closing Session -Recap all the rhythms and choose one of the songs to share with your class.

A 8-week introduction to the basics of drumming and singing nasheeds in English and Arabic

This is a course that's great for beginners. An engaging, fun, and lively course that will encourage your child to pick up the drum and sing praises.

An end of term Online performance will be arranged for children to share what they have learnt after the 8 weeks. Parents and families will be invited to watch and support.

Please note Drumming and Nasheed Essentials 102 will be offered in our next term (September 2025)

Open to children 7 to 12 years old

  1. Group classes will only go ahead with a minimum of five students

  2. We are unable to offer any discounts but if anyone is financially struggling, please do get in contact. There are limited sponsored spaces available

  3. We do not record any of our live online sessions.

  4. Course Material: All students will be given videos, audio, and a lyric pack to help with practice.

  5. It is advised for you to put aside at least 1 hour in the week to practice in addition to the class.

  6. Any drum is welcomed in this space ( Daff, Djembe or Darbouka)

FAQs

Is this class online?

Yes, this class will take place online via Zoom. It will be a group class with a minimum of 5 students. Our classes are not able to go ahead unless there is a minimum of 5 students signed up.

DO you record your classes?

Classes are not recorded, however you will have access to our student portal which includes videos of all the rhythms and songs that you will cover during the course. However our on-demand Drumming and Nasheed 101 course, provides pre-recorded classes for you to enjoy at your own pace in your own time.

Do I need a Drum for the class

Yes, it is recommended for you to have a drum for the session. We welcome all types of drums. A djembe, darbouka or a Daff would be ideal but whichever is easiest for you to access. If you don’t have a drum you can also use a pot lid, celebration tin etc. Get creative! Don’t use it as an excuse not o join us.

DO you offer any discounts?

We are not financially able to offer any discounts as our courses are priced at the bare minimum to ensure accessibility to as many people as possible. However payment plans are available, you can pay in three monthly payments.

What happens once I complete the course?

We have three stages of the Drumming and Nasheed Essential Course. Once you have completed all three stages and have passed your assessment, you will be able to sign up to receive a certification of completion.
